Roy Harper
"The Green Man"
.

Since 1966, English songwriter Roy Harper has released 25 albums. This title track from his most recent collection is a jewel - and is completely solo acoustic. Harper's guitar style is reminiscent of Bert Jansch; his poetic sensibility might remind you of Jethro Tull. Harper is a thinker and a writer steeped in poetry and myth. Of "The Green Man," Harper writes: "It could very well be that The Green Man is one of many human icons in that [ancient] kind of an emotional journey; some kind of tangible longevity of spirit. Living participation in the magics of renewal. Day to day stuff."

It's the second track listed on this mp3.com page:

If you're not familiar with Harper, check out his website. For one thing, it's beautiful and full of treats, including a book of poems that you can listen to. A collection of love songs, East of the Sun, is due for release this month. I'll sure be looking for it.
